Dreams Dance Team (DDT) is an organization commited to expanding and exposing the love and appreciation of dance to inner city youth, primarily focusing on the children of underserved communities of the Bronx.
The goal is to provide dance instruction to students at little or no cost, affording them opportunities that children of their socioeconomic status might not typically be able to experience.
DDT offers three main genres of dance: Hip Hop, Ballet and Africian, with the incorporation of contemporary pieces. Regarding the many challenges that children face on a daily basis DDT offers as a form of expression.
Participating in our classes, as well as competing on our team, not only keeps children off the streets, but it also provides structure, discipline, a sense of belonging, hope and educational instuction through body movement. With the Bronx being the county with the highest rate of childhood obesity in the state of New York, our program strives to combat this issue by enforcing fitness and healthy eating habits.
